Alchemik Babylon Beats (ABB) est un projet electro/dub fondé en 2000 par un duo de dj et guitariste/chanteur. Plusieurs autres membres les rejoindrons tout doucement mais sûrement. En effet, pas question pour ABB de brûler les étapes qui mènent à la production d‘un album. Ici, on prend le temps de chercher, essayer, corriger, améliorer pour arriver aujourd’hui à des compositions tribales dans lesquelles l’association entre technologie et sons primitifs est devenue la marque de fabrique du groupe.
Sur leur électro-dub, les percussions, loops, riffs et infrabasses se mêlent les voix puissantes de la chanteuse Pina, de leur MC et parfois même d’une deuxième voix féminine. C’est que chez ABB, on aime collaborer avec d’autres artistes.
Sur “Underground Resistance”, ABB fait également honneur à notre héritage belge en samplant le célèbre ‘Beats of Love’ de Nacht und Nebels
Fait marquant cet été passé, ABB s’est produit entre autres au Dour Festival et en ouverture de Manu Chao à l’Esperanzah Festival.

Alchemik Babylon Beats (ABB), an Electro/dub band made in 2000 by a dj and a guitarist-singer. The particular style is slowly drawed itself when they got new members at didjeridoo, percu, guitar, but also a female voice (Pina). Sometimes Stéphanie Vondenhoff from "Shah-Mat" joining ABB for live shows or studio sessions.The band wants more and more collaborations !
ABB become an unegligible reference on the underground scene and we saw them this last summer at Dour Festival and also in support for Manu Chao at Esperanzah Festival.

Lady Aarp is a duo from Poland - a meeting of the musical minds of Kasia Kolbowska and Sebastian Witkowski in addition to a coming together of two unusual instruments - the celtic harp and the computer; a marriage of virtuosity, passion, imagination with sound wizardry. The album "Soma" consists of the delicate sounds of the harp, combined with electronic touches: loops, delays. It transports the listener to the glorious elsewhere of dreams, rituals, and distant memories.

When Canadian electronic musician Stephen Hummel‘s debut as SubtractiveLAD “Giving Up The Ghost” materialized in 2005 n5MD touted it as an amalgam of the label’s emotional experiments in music credo. With his second album “Suture” (2006) subtractiveLAD toughened things up a bit by getting darker and somewhat emotionally weighted. With his new 3rd full-length for n5MD entitled “No Man's Land” subtractiveLAD has out shined his previous albums by creating an introspective and focused actualization of his emotions. In past outings subtractiveLAD has only hinted at such introspection and has let us see just a hint of such depth of psyche. This new more open aesthetic has seemingly given Hummel a newer confidence in his sound that has led him to push further its boundaries by adding elements such as guitar, field recordings, and even hints of vocal texture to his signature style of self-made synth melodies and compressed beats. Songs of defiance, love, exasperation, hope, loss and even pleasure are all compiled in such a way to lead you through a journey of great musical rewards. SubtractiveLAD has yet again captured a resounding annotation of n5MD as a label and as a stylistic categorization, proof that there can be a beating heart behind all the silicon and wires.

Mélange subtile d‘arrangements acoustiques et de voix introspectives, “Eleven Continents” est le premier album commun du multi-intrumentaliste Ryan Francesconi (RF, membre du groupe de Joanna Newsom) et de la chanteuse Lili De La Mora. Dans l’esprit d’une collaboration, Ryan et Lili ont chacun invité quelques amis à la contribution de leur album. Citons par exemple la chanteuse Fabiola Sanchez de Familiar Trees ou Joanna Newsom à la harpe qui ajoute une résonance naturelle aux arrangements de cordes de Ryan. Incontestablement une invitation au voyage !

Blending acoustic arrangements alongside subtle introspective vocals, "Eleven Continents" is the first offering from multi-instrumentalist Ryan Francesconi (RF, member of Joanna Newsom’s band) and vocalist Lili De La Mora.
In the spirit of collaboration, both decided to invite a few friends to contribute to the record. The addition of Familiar Trees‘s vocalist Fabiola Sanchez adds a warmth and conversational aspect to the lyrics, while Joanna Newsom’s harp adds a resonance to Francesconi’s arrangements of cello, viola, winds and subtle percussion. While the arrangements and textures are reminiscent of his releases under the RF moniker, much of the electronic aspect of his other music has been replaced by the breathy tone and sincerity of Lili De La Mora’s lyrics. An invitation to travel, first inside to discover what it is you want to bring into.

Abe Dichi alias Damiak est vraiment une entité cosmopolite de par sa vie qu’il partage entre le Mexique, l’Europe et les Etats-Unis. Mixé en Islande sous la houlette de Valgeir Sigurdsson (Björk, CocoRosie, Mum, Bonnie “Prince” Billy, Border Community), “Micalavera”, “mon squelette” en français, est fait de guitares, melodium, harmonium, violon, piano, field recordings, batterie et d’éléments électroniques traités. L’univers sonore de Sigurdsson (cf Mum) se fait sentir tout au long de ces douze vignettes haute en couleurs tant au niveau de l’instrumentation, que de la technique et des émotions !


Abe Dichi alias Damiak is what you would classify as a true cosmopolitan musical entity. Spending most of his life moving between Mexico, Europe and the United States Add in the mixing and mastering of Mio and Valgeir Sigurdsson (Bjork, CocoRosie, Mum, Bonnie "Prince" Billy, Border Community) at Greehouse Studios in Iceland and this compounds the borderless sense of musical place that Micalavera embodies. The album title which roughly translates to "my skeleton" utilizes guitars, melodium, harmonium, violin, piano, field recordings, and live drums as well as electronic elements and edits that may recall similar moments to Sigurdsson's copatriots Mum and Blindfold or even to the more delicate moments of Dntel. Micalavera is an absorbing mix of many musical styles interwoven into a bright, affectionate, yet cohesive whole that features 12 vignettes of multi-cultural instrumentation, technique, and raw wondrous emotion.

La bruxelloise Valérie Leclercq est une proche du label Matamore (Some Tweetlove, Raymondo, Soy Un Caballo, Sepia Hours,...) et Humpty Dumpty (Miele, Tazio & Boy), mais c‘est bien sur la structure toulousaine We Are Unique Records (Angil, Melatonine,...) que cet album était paru à l’origine en 2005.
Le voici à nouveau ou enfin, c’est selon, disponible en Benelux dans dans son diptyque en carton.
Sur ce “(we are now) seated in profile”, Half Asleep a été épaulée par Gilles Deles. Ce nom ne vous dira peut-être pas grand chose et pourtant ses références vont de pairs avec Angil, Moonman ou encore Melatonine. Sacré gage de qualité en soit !

Half Asleep is Valérie Leclercq from Brussels. She’s well know thanks her records on Matamore (Some Tweetlove, Raymondo, Soy Un Caballo, Sepia Hours,...) and now Humpty Dumpty (Miele, Tazio & Boy). That’s maybe why people can’t purchase in Benelux this originaly 2005 release produced with the help of Gilles Deles (Moonman, Angil, Melatonine). A must have indeed !

RIEN a été fondé fin 1999 à Grenoble avec comme seul but avoué de passer à travers le bug de l’an 2000 ! Pari réussi, le groupe décida alors d’enregistrer l’album “Requiem Pour Des Baroqueux” (2003) et de planifier le split de la formation directement après la parution du disque. Démarche atypique s’il en est, le succès relatif de cet album donne envie à RIEN de remettre le couvert. Voici donc “There Can’t Be Any Prediction Without Future” dans lequel le groupe part à nouveau à l’exploration de territoires baroques et psychés. Le mot “post-rock” prend ici toute sa dimension tant le spectre de couleurs est large et d’une richesse indéniable. RIEN est vraiment le groupe français le plus singulier du moment !

RIEN was created in november 1999 at the time to avoide the big informatic's 2000 bug ! They played a one twenty minutes shamanic show in 102 during an "XXX" evening. Based in Grenoble, the four first hour disciples decided after this relative first success (there was no bug at all) to reconsider their "split" and delay it during the sales period in japan in 2014. In 2003, they recorded their first album "Requiem Pour Des Baroqueux" and now here comes "There Can't Be Any Prediction Without Future". The music of RIEN is unusual in that it’s mainly instrumental rock wrecking the limits of post-rock by an exploration in baroque and psyche universes.

Dans la famille délurée des faiseurs de comptines rêveuses made in France, nous avions Colleen et ses miniatures elliptiques, Don Nino et son folk pastoral, il faudra désormais compter avec les franciliens gentiment perchés de Rrose Tacet.
Habités par un indéniable esprit aventureux, ce duo iconoclaste qui emprunte son énigmatique patronyme à Marcel Duchamp et au vocabulaire de la musique expérimentale na pas son pareil lorsquil sagit de relifter la folk minimaliste avec quelques accords de guitare faussement candides et une valise pleine de bibelots désarticulés (toy piano, mélodica, toy batterie, etc.) en guise de bagage à mains. Yo La Tengo et Nick Drake vous enchantent ? Assurément, ces miniatures enluminées sont pour vous. Une boîte à rythmes à deux francs six sous et une poignée daccords boisés suffisent à habiller des compositions cousues dor, douces comme la caresse dune mère aimante, envoûtantes comme un improbable voyage immobile en montgolfière. De la musique de chambre pour grands espaces, en somme.

Within the forward family of French dreamy nursery-rhyme makers, there already were Colleen and her elliptical miniatures, Don Nino and his pastoral folk music. Now, please welcome Rrose Tacet, a bunch of pretty eccentric Parisians !
Driven by unquestionably bold inspiration, and owing their enigmatic name to Marcel Duchamp and to the vocabulary of avant-garde music, this iconoclastic duet has no rival when it's a matter of remodelling minimalist folk music with the help of a few falsely naive guitar chords and of a travelling bag full of dislocated curios (toy piano, melodica, toy drums). If you feel enraptured by the art of Yo la tengo and Nick Drake, then Rrose tacet's illuminated miniature symphonies are for you. With only a cheap drum machine and a handful of warm chords, they can create compositions that are rolling in riches, that are as sweet as the stroke of a loving mom, as bewitching as an improbable and motionless trip on a balloon. All in all, here is chamber music for big spaces.
